I feel passionately about everyone having the opportunity to access Counselling, to gain self-awareness, feel heard and to feel empowered. I have experience working with primary and secondary age children and their families, in Schools and out in the community. I have found that by building a professional relationship with the individuals I work with it has a profound impact on their confidence to start moving towards their goals.
My approach is gentle and non-judgemental. I enjoy using an integrative style of Counselling, which means that I can draw on a range of ways of working to meet the needs of each individual.
I wanted to work with WCC because their belief is that counselling should be accessible to all, I know personally and professionally it can feel out of reach. I had counselling after struggling when I was a young carer and found it life changing. I then went onto qualify and now I get to offer support to my local community. I believe when one person asks for help and receives it, its impact can be extraordinary.
I am very passionate about the counselling process and believe strongly in a person’s ability to make positive changes and their potential to grow. I aim to provide a safe, friendly, confidential and non-judgmental space within which this process can happen.
I believe in the work WCC does to offer help and support to those who need it. WCC work hard to make counselling affordable and accessible without long waiting lists.
I work with adults, children and young people and it is my passion to help my clients to develop their self-awareness and to understand how their experiences and traumas have impacted them. I love to work creatively with children and young people by using sand trays, figurines and colouring. I offer a listening ear and a safe environment for everyone. It is my absolute belief that everyone should have access to affordable mental health services.
I have worked for many years in healthcare as a nurse an then a midwife. I trained to become a counsellor to enable me to be able to spend time and give clients space to talk through challenges and transitions they may be experiencing. My approach is holistic, client led, mindful and compassionate.

I am a counsellor with over 25 years experience and previously had a career in finance and investment. Initially working with new mothers as a breastfeeding counsellor, I moved into general counselling and still retain an interest in nutrition and how it affects our mental health.
I provide a confidential and calm environment so you can safely explore issues that prevent you from enjoying life. I also help people avoid becoming overwhelmed by their work eg those in emergency services, and am a supervisor for other counsellors.
I love my role as counsellor, and I am thankful to have the opportunity to help others make positive changes in their lives. Seeing someone develop self-awareness and help them empower themselves gives me a wonderful sense of gratitude.
I have experience working with primary school children and recently set up a Wellbeing Hub within a local school. It highlighted to me the importance and need for support in schools.

I work with all age ranges. Using mindfulness and compassion, to be more present, reduce stress and anxiety, increase emotional regulation, build self-awareness and connection, identify negative thought patterns, and empower self-worth.
I decided to train as a counsellor as a result of my own experience with OCD and related anxiety and having undergone my own journey in personal therapy. I am currently working towards my Level 4 Diploma in Counselling and hope to be fully qualified by the end of this year.
I was keen to work with Wellington Community Counselling as I have lived locally for nearly all my life and the charity is doing excellent work in providing a much-needed service for local residents.
My name is Lucy Kenny and I’m a qualified counsellor and a member of the BACP.
As an integrative counsellor, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches that consider the clients individual needs and their personal circumstances. I work with adults, children, and adolescents. My approach to therapy is gentle, open, transparent, and non-judgemental. Putting people at ease and creating a safe and confidential space where they feel accepted without judgement, is at the core of everything I do.
I am retired after a career in NHS management, in an interesting range of roles, several of which were in mental health services. As well as my role with Wellington Community Counselling I am involved with two other local charities and enjoy spending time with friends, reading and gardening.
My counselling journey began when I accessed support myself as a young adult, which I found life changing. It was then that I decided to make a career change from working in customer service to working therapeutically with clients. My ethos for counselling is that it should be accessible for everyone, and I pride myself on offering a safe, warm and welcoming environment for clients to explore whatever difficulties they are experiencing.
I have experience of working in a school environment as well as my own private practice. I also run a support group for parents of children with special educational needs.
I began my journey into counselling after being dissatisfied with my past employment in the aerospace industry, and have never looked back.
I feel honoured be in a position where I can be part of the healing process, helping others free themselves from being trapped in a cycle of negative emotions and find the pathway to be the person they truly are.

The journey that led me to my role at Wellington Counselling started with my first job as an administrator, in a small charity that provided counselling services. Over the years, my knowledge, skills and experiences grew. As I studied and learned more, I progressed into management within the health and social care sector, helping to grow and develop services.
Today, I am excited to be part of an amazing team of people at Wellington Counselling, helping to provide counselling services that are inclusive to everyone in the community, and that help others on their own personal journeys.
